Posted by CCM / 23 August 2026
The project Ngā Huia (School of Veterinary Science) at Massey University won two awards at the 2026 Western Architecture Awards, which are part of the Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) regional programs.
Designed as a joint collaboration by CCM Architects and Labworks Architecture, the building was highly praised for its co-design process alongside local iwi and for integrating natural environmental motifs—specifically referencing the huia bird once common to the nearby Tararua Ranges.
The project was named a double winner across the following categories:
Education Architecture
Interior Architecture
